Totally unrelated to infidelity// Has anyone here had hip replacement???
How did it go???
I go to surgeon in about a month. My right hip is basically shot according to xrays and MRI.

Hi MM~

My older brother had his third one about 15 months ago. (severe motorcycle accident at 18 caused his problems).

He just turned 53. I think he has a titanium hip now and they said this should be a 'life time' one for him.

Follow the Dr's. orders to the letter. He is very healthy and was as active as possible and it still took him months to heal to the stage where they would allow him to start rehab.

He feels like a champ. But in order to get the best (long term)results-his Dr. has advised him to cut back on his physical activity. Hiking, biking, heavy lifting, etc. literally wore the first two out. Low impact is his friend for the next 30+ years.

Oh, and he could not ride motorcycle or even the riding lawnmower for months due to the vibrations...

Good Luck!

I'm sorry, but I don't have any advice on this. I hope the surgery goes well and you heal quickly. Sending mojo.

My father had one. The recovery for him was painful but worth it in the end. He still had arthritis in other places so he moved to Southern California for the weather and goes fishing and sailing everyday. When he is in Jersey and it's cold, he says everything hurts except his fake hip. Moral of the story: get the hip replacement and move to Southern California.

Sorry, Eranda................And if I had the money and things would work out, I would probably move to Israel.....maybe Dead Sea area.

I've been told I may need one in the future, but last week I visited my daughter, and we walked A LOT. My hip hurt like hell.

So, I'm going to try to get my last xrays and take them to where my husband works (outside of Canada) and see about getting something done there. I have an appt. in about a month.

While sitting waiting for my plane I was chatting with the lady next to me. She'd just had her 2nd one about 6 months ago. Said she is much better, but still recuperating.

Said that for months you can't sit on anything soft sit on a hard chair, and if you tire you can lie down. Can't push the hip more than 90 degrees while it's healing, so can't pick up stuff.

So, sounds like a rough heal, BUT everybody I know who has had the surgery is very pleased with the result.
