question for runners

No, I am not a runner. I am a fast walker. I try to walk about 7 miles a day.

Well, I got the bright idea to run stairs. After two days, my two toes next to the big toe are very, very bruised. one toenail has started to come off ( ewww).

Googled this, called it runner's toe.

What do I do, besides trying to control my gag reflex.

Make sure you keep your toe nails clipped, keep it dry, get moisture wicking socks, and get shoes with a wider toe. Don't pull it off! Gah...that thought gave me the heebie jeebies. Or you can just join my "get morbidly obese" movement. I've been running for about 7 months now and I still don't get how people enjoy it.

This is the most difficult thing I've ever done.

shoes are very important... make sure you have a lot of room. I wear a women's 9 and my running shoes are a 9.5.

I also wear nothing but Smart Wool socks when I run.

Ohhh, sorry. I've lost my second toenail on my right foot 3 or 4 times now. Once you lose it once, it tends to keep happening.

How are your shoes? Plenty of room in the toe box? And yes, keep those toenails short!

Ditto to the short toenails and bigger shoes. I wear an 8 and my running shoes are a 9.5.

Good Luck!

Well, my shoes are not the right size.

Serves me right for running stairs !

Thanks for the advice. I am keeping it covered with a bandaid and neosporin .

Just waiting for it to fall off.

Yeah, wait for it to fall off.

Don't do what I do.

And I'm going to leave it at that.

One more question. When it falls off, will a new one grow.

Does it fall off as he new one grows. This is really gross.

yep, sometimes the tip will be barely hanging on while a new one grows. And toenails grow slowly. you'll have a nub for a while.

Some brands have a bigger toe box than others. I wear Asics for that reason.
