I went to the doc and she said she didn't think stroke. I passed all the touch me here, walk, what day is it, blow out your cheeks, etc .. tests. She took bloodwork to see about imbalances. Also said I am maybe stressed.
I AM SO STRESSED. I mean STRESSED. LIke crying and hyperventilating every night stress.
Could stress be doing this? I feel like I'm having a stroke or something but I am scared to go to the hospital and I did go to my doc. It happens in my car, at work ... and I was on a jury so at the courthouse. It does not happen at home. I'm also sleeping fine, eating fine, can taste fine .. not confused ...
Because in my situation I didn't know if I was the OW at first or if I was being cheated on. Found I was being cheated on.
Take care of yourself and feel better soon!
Its so scary to have those symptoms because the first thing to think is stroke or heart attack. I have had exactly what you are describing and its scared the SHIT out of me. For me its anxiety and I can bet its the same for you, considering the stress you are under.
I always err on the side of caution though. If you feel the symptoms getting worse, go the hospital to relieve your worry. And also talk to you doc about anxiety meds if you are open to them.

Both will cause the numbness, so will anxiety, esp if it's associated with hyperventilating, or holding your breath which you may unconciously doing.
Dr's are starting to get away from sending everyone to the CT scanner for every change in normal. These things are excellent diagnostic tools, but they are a HUGE amount of exposure for each one. In addition they are expensive, and nonconclusive about 80% of the time.
If you had these changes and the stayed, or progressively worsened then it would be absolutely appropriate to send you to the ED, and scan the old beaner.
Try this: When it happens if you are able to stop what you are doing. Find a place to be quiet. Close your eyes, and do some focused breathing. Using your abdominal muscles not your chest muscles, breath in for a count of 5 breath out for a count of 5, focus on making sure that your chest isn't moving when you do this that it's your belly muscles doing the work. Focus on nothing but the breathing and the counting. YOu can also do a simple meditation with this where you flex each major muscle group starting from your feet and go up until you do your neck and head, while still focusing on the breathing, make the muscle tight on inhalation, and relaxed on exhalation. If all the symptoms go away when you are done, I'm betting anxiety.
I was gonna say this too.
Ex experienced symptoms like this and it was Bell's Palsy. Scared the hell out of him, but he recovered from it just fine.
I also say you should go to the ER. Anxiety could be the culprit, but if you think something's really wrong, that's just going to cause MORE anxiety!
Hope you get it all cleared up soon.
Other modalities that may help would be neuromuscular therapy, acupressure, acupuncture.
There is a practitioner directory here
Even a decent Swedish massage therapist helps with stress like this.
I hope you feel better soon.
Ok so ... the weekend was pretty ok. Saturday was fine. Absolutely NO symptoms and I did start my "ladys time" ... which is almost ALWAYS with me followed with a headache that would fell a moose. I did have the headache on Sunday along with my ladys time ... and towards evening, as I started getting ready for bed/my week my right side went sort of funky. Not NUMB but weak and tingly. I took an Ibuprofen PM ... and slept like a baby. I got ready for work, no problems.
Got in the car... PROBLEM PROBLEM. Right side of my face went all tingly. I HATE my job. I don't know why. I think I am just bored and hoenstly while I am not treated badly I see other people that are and it makes me upset for them. Sometimes it's my boss doing the bad treating ... and it jsut makes me not want to be here.
Add in three college classes and I think I am just FREAKING OUT.
TushDoc - yes the last few times this has happened I grabbed my bottleo of lavender essential oil and got somewhere quiet and rubbed it on me - and in a few minutes, with some eyes closed just ... relaxing it went away.
I feel like with a stroke - this would be steady symptoms, not come and go ... and I also feel like my neck is very very tense. A massage would not be a bad idea I don't think.
