My question is........

Could I get an STD that way??? I read in one source that herpes lives outside the body in towels etc for a brief period. Im kind of freaking out.

It is unlikely. The conditions would have to be perfect. Somebody else would have had to been commando too, most likely the person right before you, have had grabs or a weeping infection of some sort and (except for crabs) need some sort of skin break.

It is unlikely, but it would totally freak me out too. Was your skirt so short that you had bare genitals on the seat? If not, then I think you are ok.

Well, *blush* NO I'd never wear something that short but somehow I managed to pull it toward the front instead of

I agree with Pentup....the chances of the previous seat-sitter being commando AND flesh-to-seat AND having an STD would be quite the long shot.

Uh, Yah, I would say there would have to be a plethera of said STD bug/Crab on the seat when you sat, then you would also have to have some prolonged contact with said seat.
I also get your creeped out factor. I would totally feel that way, and would have been tempted to whip out some hand sanatizer, and scrub the old cooter with it right then and there.

You stand a better chance of catching nasties from touching things others have touched, ie door handles, toilet flushers, cash.

Oh my God. Just reading that hurt.

Raises the next question that needs to be asked:
Did you pass any STD to the next commuter?

Just kidding!
Seriously - I was thinking as I read this: If your husband came home from a medical check and tried to convince you he got herpes off the subway seat… Would you believe him?
