Have you ever felt bad because your child was the only one out of their group of friends with divorced parents? My dd isnt one to complain or say anything but sometimes I wonder if when she is visiting friends or having playdates does she feel bad... I worry so much about her..ugh..does it ever get better????

I have thought this as my children are they only children in my social group with separated parents.

On my birthday I had friends around with their children and both mums and dads were there.

For Christmas I have planned to take my children to see a panto and all the mums and dads will be there. I am concerned that my DS, who will be nearly 4 then might think about this too.

But on the plus side all of the dads are very hands on with my children and are great role models for them.

I think about this, too. It doesn't seem to bother my DDs either, but it's now a fact of their everyday lives -- especially since I share custody with WXW, and they live with me every other week...it's impossible for it to affect their lives, as much as we try to not let it.

I try to remember how I felt around my friends at that age - the ones with divorced parents. It didn't seem to matter to me...but perhaps it did to them.

I've worried about this for DD, yes. I've had such anger at not being "traditional" and not having it be our choice, for I had pride in that.

What I notice is that DD seems to take to kids with divorced or single parents more than married ones. She is closer in spirit to a few kids of BS friends than any other.

More and more kids are in or will be in this type of family dynamic. I did worry about it at first, but then I started thinking about how many of my kids' friends are living with mom and a step-dad and realized they aren't that different after all.
