Wondering if you anyone on SI has heard of it and used it and if you found it helpful.


BS, now age 54, d-day 6-2-08, divorced after 17 years M and 20 together. In some ways I have not 'gotten over it'. But I am resilient and have created a good life where I am mostly happy.

I've tried it without much success, but I think repetition is necessary, and I keep forgetting to repeat and repeat. In fact, it sometimes helps me sleep, if I remember to do it.

IIRC, there are some attempts at doing tests that show it to be a pretty promising method for making changes. IIRC, I know some therapist-trainers in Halifax (Nova Scotia) who use it very successfully with their clients.

There is no science behind it at all. You'd do better going to an accredited psychologist. One with an actual doctorate.

I don't know anything about your question.

I am beginning Cognitive Processing Therapy. I am jumpy about the first assignment.

Of course, I read about the process and what is coming up and on the surface, it looks "too simple." But it has had a lot of good results.

I have no idea if this is something you could use or not.

I do find it useful. My last IC used it with me and it helped get me out of habitual thinking patterns. I can do it on my own and it sometimes helps, but it works better when an IC guides me through. I do appreciate the fact that you can use it on your own.

I'm considering some formal training in it to help my nutrition clients change their emotional eating patterns. I wondered how well known it was. I do think it would be a good tool for infidelity related issues.

I had a friend who felt it really helped her deal with anxiety issues.

I went the EMDR route myself, and that helped me a lot too.
