Dinner at my son's. I am in charge of appetizers and desserts.

Hot spiced pecans

Dried apricots stuffed with blue cheese, pistachios and honey

Pickled shrimps

Bacon and caramelized leeks dip with breadsticks

Smoked salmon and cream cheese/capers/lemon juice/chives/pepper flakes mix in small crispy shells

Light pumpkin cheesecake with (not light) pecan praline sauce

Macaron layers filled with chocolate orange mousse

I'm having fun with this one. I'll serve the leek dip in a hollowed out squash and the pickled shrimps in a bowl lined with cabbage leaves. The macaron cake will be sliced on to plates dusted with cocoa and confectioner's sugar. I plan to garnish the cheesecake with cape gooseberries in their skins.

Anyone else have any suggestions on how to serve the remaining items?

Lynn, I just read your menu...while I may not have any serving suggestions (I think the only one qualified for this might be Martha Stewart)...I do think I could pop by and do a taste test. I am only an hour or so down the road.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Some of the recipes are Martha's! My son is in Burlington. We'll set another place!

I need a wicked Thanksgiving idea for the pecans and apricots. Someone just gave me a neat idea for the salmon shells: pile them in a salmon mousse mold--which I have.

My only suggestion is you air mail everything to me to try!

Only if you give me a serving tip.

I'd just find a nice dish for the pecans, crystal, ceramic, or silver. For the apricots you could arrange them in a single layer on a serving platter and drizzle designs in honey, or sprinkle pistachios around them.

I also made some 1-inch cheese bites (baked crackers) that I guess I'll serve straight from a cookie tin. They are super yummy.

Wow. Reckon what the rest of the meal will be? Your menu sounds scrumptious. I love color. For the spicey pecans...maybe serve in a nice, red-hot pepper dish. Your beautiful, stuffed, apricots....definately an elegant, white dish. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thanks, all.

I didn't get pics of everything. I had great plans, but as you may imagine, pandemonium ruled!

Here's the bacon & leek dip with veggies:

And the pumpkin cheesecake:

vtach, we had a a butternut squash soup with bacon & apple garnish, a wonderful turkey, white and sweet potato mash, Brussel's sprouts, stuffing, fabulous gravy, and cranberry sauce. My son is a chef so everything was perfectly cooked!
