I watched the 1990s movie Forrest Gump again with my teenagers over the holiday weekend. You know, I wish I had married a Forrest Gump. Strong, faithful, reliable, loyal, stable, financially secure, safe, generous, honest, true-to-his-word… it makes his IQ irrelevant. He's smart where it matters. And where smart doesn't factor in, he's lucky.

For those of you who have never seen that movie, put it at the top of your list. It ranks right up there as one of my favorite movies of all times.

For what it's worth, I'll probably never ever marry again. I'm almost 9 years into being divorced and if anything I feel more strongly that way than in the beginning. But if Forrest Gump came into my world, I would reconsider.

I loved that is filled with all sorts of messages!

My DD was watching it this weekend too. Makes me smile when movies and shows of another generation still appeal to new generations. She watches Golden Girls, Roseanne, etc.

My grandmothers 2nd marraige was to a "Forest Gump". Her first marraige was abusive and when she finally left he brought his pregnant girlfriend and their lovechild with him to try and get her back. She stayed strong and a few months later met the man I consider my only real grandfather. He was slow but he not only adored her, he loved her 6 kids and all the grandchildren. He is to this day the best man I have ever known.

I thought I had married a Forrest Gump with WH#2. He wasn't slow, but he was the kindest, most thoughtful man I had ever met and acted like he adored me. I used to say he calls me princess and treats me like one. I remember telling my friends how he was TOO nice and couldn't believe how fortunate I was to have found him. Now it just breaks my heart that he was really not who he pretended to be and instead he is now just another cheating liar.
