I set up an appointment with a therapist who had helped me previously many years ago to get over a 3-4 year depression that meds didn't touch. Technique was EMDR. I suspect I had something similar to PTSD, but am not sure. Didn't have a formal PTSD diganosis. Anyway, my depression totally went away within a couple months of working with her.
So my current therapist suggested after some discussion that I continue the EMDR work for at least a session or two with the past therapist. It's actually something I've had in the back of my head for a long time, because the only reason I stopped in the first place was because our daughter was born and things got a little crazy. So this is exciting for me. Worst case it doesn't help and I waste a little time, but given how much it helped last time, it could be pretty big.
