I had my follow up doctor appointment from going on Strattra last night.

I would have been happier getting a root canal while simultaneously getting a mammogram and a colonoscopy at the same time, while awake, with no pain killers.

In the mere 15 minutes I was there I not only don't have ADHD/ADD, but apparently if "I can deal with it for 30 years, why do I think I have it in the first place"

Better yet, apparently i have been taking it at the wrong time everyday. I took it at night because it made my head supper fuzzy and i felt nauseous all the time. Well, that was wrong, i needed to take it in the morning to get the full effect.

Well fuck doc, wouldnt it have been nice to you know, tell me that in the first place??

He thinks that I am just not getting enough sleep at night, and I need to force myself to get 7 hours of sleep every night. AYFKM?

I have 2 small children, a house, 2 dogs, 2 horses, and a LIFE.

Not only that, but all my issues have been LIFELONG, so, i haven't been sleeping my whole life right?

So I said, I will take the 25mg in the morning for 2 weeks, if that doesn't work, what is the next step.

You ready for this.....NOTHING! Apparently this one shot medication should be the thing that works, and if it didnt, then I am not really ADHD/ADD.

Fucking amazing.

So, for the doctor who didnt believe me when I told him I thought this was wrong with me, never offered me a test to take to find out how bad it might be, his first reaction was to put me on meds, and then he tells me I am not sick.

To say we are leaving him as a doctor is an understatement, I am seriously curious as to how he got a doctorate in the first place.

ETA - clicked the wrong button.

I am sorry you had to deal with that. It's so frustrating when you know you need help and the Dr. isn't being helpful. I hope your next Dr. is better with understanding of ADHD/ADD to better help you find a medication that works for you. Strattera is just one of many and it may or may not be the one for you.

Ugh. I'm sorry. I hope your next dr is the complete opposite of this one.

It takes Strattera a month or two to work. It's not like a stimulant that works immediately. We also use Effexor or Wellbutrin to treat ADD.

You need to see a doctor who actually knows about ADD and the treatment. You could also ask about trying provigil or phentaramine. These are stimulants that aren't as addictive. Sometimes a doc will prescribe a trial run to see if those helped.

PM if you have any questions.
