I heard this song yesterday "Giving Tree" from Plain White T's.

Wow, that spoke volumes to me. Any further song recommendations are welcome. I need a new playlist to throw my own pity parties

Temporarily independent with the whole world at my feet.

"I'm Sorry Baby But You Can't Stand In My Light Anymore"

(ETA: by Bob Mould)

I feel it's the theme song for any BS.

ETA 2: main lyrics. It's just perfect for those of us who lean co-dependent and married broken losers!

I'm sorry baby but you can't stand in my light anymore

You're moving back to the shadows

I can't fight this anymore

I tried to heal you and I tried to fix you

I tried to show you compassion

I tried to listen, I tried to love you even though you were broken

I let you get up close to me, I let you feel the warm and the calm

And you resisted, it took me time to notice

But now I see the shadows as they fall

I always find the broken ones, what does this say about me?

Maybe I'm the broken one, maybe when the lights go down

Maybe I'm the one who feels lonely
