I swear, I'm hopeless. I have NO fashion sense. I grew up in the 70's, no useful guidance from my awful mother, so now, in my late 50's I have no confidence.

I have a wedding this weekend. Navy dress, just below the knee. lace bodice, slight sparkles in the lace, side gathered. Cap sleeves. What shoes? I'll need a wrap, I'm always cold, at least till the dancing starts.

I CANNOT wear heels, but I have black wedges that I can wear. I also have gold wedges, but they have cork bottoms.

I thought silver, and bought a silver shrug and wedges, BUT THEY LOOK SORT OF WHITE. Is that okay?

Any suggestions on jewelry is also appreciated

All opinions solicited!

BUT THEY LOOK SORT OF WHITE

Do they look more white than silver? If they do, I wouldn't wear them this time of year. But if they look more silver than white, I'd definitely wear them. I think silver and navy look so elegant together.

Cute dress, you said it's navy?

With a silver shrug? I would go with silver ballet slipper flats that are so popular, then you are comfortable, and cute.

That's a cute dress. Do you have a picture of the shoes? I'm not good with fashion, but it would probably help the others!

beautiful dress! Looks good for curvy figure, and comfortable.

Flats -- make sure they are comfy. I find that a slight heel can be more comfortable than really flat flats.

Silver is nice with this dress. Unless it's white white I wouldn't worry about it being white.

You're kind of short so I wouldn't wear super chunky earrings or necklace. I'd wear a fun silver or silver and beads bracelet or two or four, but I'm into bracelets. That's where I'd go for the stand-out or crazy accessory -- maybe even something steampunk, or a silver cuff with a cool design engraved in it. If you have a fair trade kind of store near you, that's where I'd go to get all the pieces. Take the outfit with you, the clerks will love helping you!

Have fun!

Here are the shoes. They are sitting on the dress, and there is a shawl in the background, blue tones and silver that I could wear.

And here are some possibilities for jewelry. This is good quality OLD rhinestone. I have a matching bracelet. I can wear the necklace longer or short like a choker. My neck is still okay looking although my chin is multiplying at an alarming rate.

Please be honest. Your advice is GREATLY appreciated!!

Umm no on those shoes, too casual, clunky, remind me of flip flops

NO

Think the jewelry would work

I say NO to the shoes, too!

Off season and too casual.

I would go with dark silver or navy shoes.

Ballets are too flat; wouldn't look good with that length of dress, IMO.

Go for a short heel, about 1".

Will be there, soon.

Thanks, I wish I could wear a heel, I simply cannot, my feet are shot, 37 years of teaching will do that.

So, ballet flats or these? Or black wedges that wouldn't be as conspicuous?

I looked high and low for navy with no luck...saw some ADORABLE heels, tried on dozens, no way, hurt after 30 seconds...

Are you close to the couple, as in, may be in a lot of photos?

If so, keep shopping for navy or go with the black.

If you are just going as a guest, I wouldn't stress it too much. Just wear what you have that is comfortable, and get a nice pedicure for your trouble.

I'm not. I'm good friends with the parents of the bride. Any pictures will be informal and waist up. My friends ARE NOT apt to judge. I'm just so incredibly uncomfortable with all of this.

And I do want to be able to have fun and dance!

Too casual for the dress. Do you have a DSW shoe store close by? They have a ton of cute, not too expensive flats.

Yep. Tried it. Silver ballet flats only. Do you think they would be better? They were the same color, and totally plain.

The other flats looked too business like.

Re: heel

Aren't wedgies a type of heel?

I mean they are slanted upwards, aren't they?

By a heel, 1", I don't mean stilettos, not by a long short.

Naturalizer brand has lovely 1" heel dress shoes.

I bought them already for my son's wedding, and plan to dye them if necessary.

...and I can certainly relate to the teaching/shoes thing.

It is, my arch just doesn't touch the shoe on shoes with heels. It "hangs" in the air. I've tried every insert in the book. I have three pairs of wedges that work. I even have trouble with some flats. I generally wear mules or sandals in warm weather.

My naturalizers used to be comfy but no longer...

Well Macy's has some cute silver flats by Betsey Johnson. I am sure you can find silver flats locally!

Love the dress.

Perhaps think pewter instead of silver. You could also go with nude. I wouldn't wear the black wedges unless you had to. No like black and navy together. I think ballet flats with some sparkle would be fine.
