I'm with Lucky, whose tagline reads "wine: the other fruit juice"

Wine got me through the darkest times these last few years. At the lowest it was coming straight out of a box.

I love my cabernet but damn, it's like liquid candy and the time has come to cut back. Winter for me, despite best intentions, means less exercise and more couch time so the old metabolism tends to slow down quite a bit.

So I decided to do a water challenge. Trying to forego the wine most days and drink an equivalent amount of lovely water with a squeeze of lemon.

It makes me feel good, but wow it's a lot of water.

On the plus side I had one (large) glass of vino when I had dinner out on Friday. It was nice to sip and savour with the meal instead of guzzling. It was all I needed.

At nine ounces that glass was *a third of the bottle*!

Off to fill up that empty 750 ml bottle now....

Oh you're more disciplined than I am.

I usually just take the hit and put on a few pounds over the winter, lol.

You've I will make a compromise. Though I won't give up my cabernet, I will drink a glass of water between each glass of wine.

TR, as usual, I like how you roll.

Gaby, I've got a few years on you, so enjoy that speedy metabolism while you can.

Down 2.5 pounds this week, so something is working.

I just want my clothes to fit again.

Faith...

I drink a gallon of water a day. MH does too. It's not easy to do...you really have to put forth the effort but now it's practically habit to drink that much.

Drinking lots of water has so many benefits...good luck!

DS, no wonder you look so fantastic.

I have a carafe in the fridge that holds exactly 750 ml and I'm getting it in every day now.

Love it. It's so good for the complexion. That and all the good veggies I'm eating.

I haven't drank in years. I get the natural blahs in the winter and I've noticed they are much much worse if I drink. It's a depressant after all. I think you'll notice a huge difference. You kind of lose the instant relaxation of the wine. But then you aren't so miserable and blue that you need it anyway so it's win/win.

Go softly my sweet friend. You will always be a part of who I am.

I can and do keep other booze in the house forever, but wine? Nah, if it's there, it is for drinking until it's gone.

I go through cycles and this year has been a party cycle since I moved in April LOL.

I was really celebrating the start of Year 5 and enjoyed the heck out of the summer and fall.

Now I'm in the "be good to yourself" cycle. Going to school, eating well, going to bed super-early and enjoying the heck out of waking up clear-headed and full of energy.

Sleep is my new favourite drug.

I'm glad I can enjoy a glass or two with a nice dinner now and then and not stop by the store on the way home. After abstaining for even a short period of time, a glass is seriously all I need to get a really good buzz.
