What exactly is it? I found it on my computer history about a month back and asked my husband about it but he said he had no idea what it was. I went in and plugged in his email but couldn't figure out if the password or if he even had an account. So I made one and searched for him but found nothing. Then about a week ago in his inbox there was an email stating a Brenda requested that he add her from no other than LinkedIn. He played dumb and never opened it. It stated she was from our area as well. So my question is this means he does have an account right? It couldn't be possible that he received spam from me putting in his email, could it?

I don't have a Linked in account but I have gotten requests to add people that I know. I don't know if the other person specifically gave linked in my email address or Linked In was able to mine that from said person's contact lists.

I just wanted to add that I don't have a linked in account, but get requests all the time.
I think it must work with Facebook, because the requests I get come from people I know on facebook.

LinkedIn is a professional networking site. And they send a lot of unsolicited emails. They're pretty pushy and annoying.

I get the emails from my father frequently. I do not have a LinkedIn account but from reading the "invite" email one would assume I do.

Others might know this for sure, but I think on Linked In, you can tell who views your info. So if you were thinking about checking on OP, they might know it. WW had no reason (good one anyway) for it and I requested she delete it, which she did.

LinkedIn (or recruiters, I've never been sufficiently motivated) will also spam you with "PersonXY has invited you to join LinkedIn" e-mails.
I wear several hats --my profession, an unrelated teaching position, and so on-- and use a spearate e-mail address for each. I've got an easy to find LinkedIn profile, but will occasionally get such "invitations" to the other e-mail addresses I use, either from people who didn't bother to search for my name or from recruiters mass-spamming everyone they can find on the web for a particular industry or interest.
It's a PITA, but probably not a cause for alarm.

LinkedIn does a lot of spamming & my guess is from Facebook friends or other social sights.
I constantly get e-mails saying things like "XYZ would like you to connect to their professional network" because my friend from Facebook has a LinkedIn account & they associate us.
^^^^
If that makes sense.
I have LinkedIn I don't use & it is always trying to link me to people on my Facebook friends list who don't have accounts and it sends out "connect with" to people I don't know & don't generate the invite.

So, to clarify:
If WH is getting emails that specifically state that "OW wants to be friends on Linked In", then is SHE trying to contact him or is Linked in sending the invites all on its own?
I'm asking because LI has been the main source of fishing for WH's OWs. This last one did not have access to the email accounts that use his real names. She only has had access to the accounts that were his "fake" name.
Interesting, too, that the name she (If it was her and NOT LI that invited him) has on her LI profile is using the same *fake* surname that he used for all of his extracurricular activities. Does that make sense? She is, (just as she did when they were doing whatever the hell it was they did when they were together for who knows how long) again, trying to pretend to be his wife by using his fake name. Again. Psycho.
I just don't see how Linked In could be doing this because she is trying to friend him through his "actual" email (which is what is 'linked' to Linked In) by using her "married to my WH's" fake last name.
I think I hate all of these social networking sites.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

It sounds like she is sending the requests. Why doesn't your WH kill off all of his fake name accounts?
Or, he could go in to all of the fake name accounts and put in a fake email address. Then any contact through those accounts would go into the abyss...
