Nearly propositioned a soldier today.

Jeez he was gorgeous... We were both standing at the curb waiting for the post-ceremony parade back to the barracks.

He wasn't in uniform but was wearing his beret, quite a few medals, and, oddly, a silver steer-head bolero tie.

Six foot something ginger man with a very nice smile which I observed stealthily from behind dark glasses as he was chatting with an older vet.

Nearly got up the nerve to ask if it would be ok to buy a veteran a drink, since we were outside the hotel with the swanky lounge.

But I didn't.

He had to have an SO on duty somewhere.

Nice to know the heart is still beating though.

You shoulda asked! All he could have done is said no!

FaithFool posted 11/11/2013 16:04 PM

It was a close call.

As much as you relish being alone and doing what you want when you want... maybe a little romance would be nice? A flirtation? You are still breathing!

FaithFool posted 11/11/2013 16:37 PM

Oh yeah, it would be nice. Just rarely see one who gets my twitter going.

I live in retirement central

They call it the Land of the Newlywed and Nearly Dead.

risingfromashes posted 11/11/2013 19:31 PM

AHHH! but you saw one today! Just because someone inspires twitters does not mean he is automatically taken.

In addition being retired does not make one undesirable.

FaithFool posted 11/11/2013 19:39 PM

Retired is good, I'll be there soon enough.

He's just the first one I've seen in aeons that I considered to be remotely attractive.

That is so awesome, happy for you!

Yeah…I think that was my first sign I was "ready"…I saw a guy and thought, "Wow, he is cute!"

I dawned on me that I wasn't dead and men might be interesting again one day.

I think the thing that stopped me was that I'm an old hippie and probably not a great match for a military guy.

Plus they're away all the time and I've been there, done that for too long.

If it happens again, it will be with someone who stays home.

I don't want to know how one knows when one's twitter is going, do I??
