Happy dances all the way today, I received my approval by the TSA to begin my pilot training as of December 1st.

Met my friend and flight instructor today - we are shooting for two days of training a week so that hopefully 8 months from now I will be a fully licensed private pilot. My friend has already offered to have me buy into her plane ownership once I am fully licensed.

I will have to work a bunch of hours in my contracting job to pay for this. Possibly forgo some stuff for the next year but this is so worth it. Feeling blessed that I can start on the number 1 item on my bucket list!

One of the greatest things I have ever done for myself, learning to fly! You are going to LOVE it!!! It's "Fraueken" awsome! lol

So happy for you!!! Please pm me for any questions or a "pick-me-up" when/if you get overwhelmed.

Absolutly the best place for me to relax has been in the air. And fly'n at night......complete peacefulness.

Ya got me "pumped" up to go fly right now. Wish there wasn't a 27kt gust 33kt x wind.

Kuwaited. I think I know what your thinking. Check this out.

I thought the same thing, but have read how it is going to get even "easier"( ) to get a PPL. Gotta love this "free" country.

It will be easier to buy "mary jane" than to buy fried food and get a PPL. $100 hamburger......try $1,000 hamburger.

09.10.11 - that is exactly the process I just went through. Nothing the US Government does not know about me at this point; after a Fiancee Visa, GreenCard process and now this I think I am fully transparent

Will take you up on your offer to check in when things become overwhelming. I am lucky to have a wonderful instructor. The calmest man I have ever met in my life, He has been flying now for 30 years and I fully trust him.

I can literally walk or bike to our local airport (FAA identifier HAF). Not only is it the best time of the year here weather wise but my training flights will take me up and down the California coast with views of the Golden Gate bridge.

I am feeling very, very blessed and lucky today.

OyÖ..good thing I got my ticket over 25 years ago.

Itís been a good long while since I regularly flew (family obligations and money got in the way).

One of the greatest things I have ever done for myself, learning to fly! You are going to LOVE it!!!

Iíll second that!! I'm thinking it's better than sex.

And fly'n at night......complete peacefulness.

Itís funnyÖ.just the other day I was thinking about the very first time I took off at night with my instructor. I had been on many business trips to that point and quite a few at night. So itís not like I hadnít seen the view out a passenger window at night. But thereís quite the difference from the cockpitÖitís quite breath taking, especially the first time.

I do miss it. Fortunately I work in the aerospace business and can vicariously "touch it" by routinely interfacing with company test pilots and military pilots.

Best of luck to you fraeuken and fill us in on your adventures !!

Kuwaited, can't wait.

Since it seems I will be on the bus for a while, twice a week flight lessons will be a great substitute if you are correct with your assessment.
