a)How long have you been on it?
b) How many pounds have you lost?
c)How would you compare it to other plans you tried in the past?
d) How easy or difficult is it to stay on course?
a) About three months
b) Maybe 2 or 3, but I'm not doing it to lose weight, so I eat a ton on non-fasting days. I do know someone who has lost a significant amount of weight - I would guess maybe 20 or 30 lbs. I'm doing it because I found this pretty convincing.
c) I haven't so far had a weight issue, so haven't really dieted any more than needing to lose a few pounds to fit into a dress a couple of times. After surgery a few years ago when my activity was severely curtailed for a couple of months, I put on 8 pounds and took it off in about six weeks by eating eight small meals a day made up of protein and vegetables. I find fasting easier than I found that.
d) In all honesty, some days are easier than others. I find I do best if I fast on Mondays and Thursdays. Some weeks this needs to get moved around, but in general I find the weekends impossible, and that it's harder without two days in between fasting days. The only weeks I haven't done it successfully were when we were either travelling or if we had to be out and/or had dinner guests more than two nights in a week.
The four things I find help the most:
1. Fast on a really busy day - you won't have time to think about how hungry you are until really late, and by that time, you'll be almost there and won't want to quit at that point.
2. Make soup. It goes a long way on a fasting day.
3. I drink a lot of unsweetened herbal and green tea on fasting days.
4. It sounds funny, but I find fast days much easier if I have a good run or do some pretty intense exercise in the morning.
Don't know if that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
