COOK for Thanksgiving. For the past 4 years I have cooked a spread for my little family of 4 (5 if DSD comes over). Before this, we'd head over to MIL's house for the day but for a couple of reasons, mainly her bad knees, she no longer cooks, which we totally understand. Can't go to my mom's house because she doesn't cook all that much and honestly, I can't really handle being around my sister or my mother for more than an hour, so that's out.

I just want to be a lazy fuck this year. Seriously. I want someone else to do it all - yet Hubby can't cook past making an cheese omelet and the cost of the 4 of us going out to eat is more than what it would cost for me to do what I do. Guilt ensues. I'm torn.

Fuck man. Any ideas?

Many grocery stores here offer pre-cooked turkey meals, gravy, dressing etc all already to go. Might be kinda late to order though....

Finally10 is taking us to a restaurant That we love, by the water, that day. We will gather on Sunday when everyone cooks. Takes the pressure off. I suggest simplify as much as possible.

Look for a holiday buffet near you. We've gone to a few of them and they are fantastic. They can be a little pricy but tha amount of food that you get is way more than you can ever eat.

What gahurts said. You don't have to cook, you can still stuff yourself, and you don't have to clean up. Win, win, win!

thanks guys - we have some of those options close to home so that may be the way to go. I'm just not motivated, at all.

If you lived close to me, I would have you here! I love to cook and so far it may only be 4 here. I can not cook 15 sides for four people, we will be eating leftovers until Easter!.

We plan to get a takeout meal from Cracker Barrel. Other places I know that do these (at varying price points):

- Bob Evans (though I don't think they have a specific Thanksgiving meal listed this year, they just have a turkey family meal)

- Mimi's

- Boston Market

- Famous Dave's (yes, the barbecue joint - it is turkey, and looks pretty good, although kind of expensive)

- Popeye's

Of course, these are the ones I know of in my area. You likely won't have some of these and will have others....

Given that you are in So. CA, maybe Marie Callendar's?

Actually, I talked with hubby last night and told him I didn't want to cook. He suggested fast food

In all seriousness, he said we'll go out, someplace inexpensive, and that he will do whatever he can to help me with my self-induced guilt. He's awesome. I think I will keep him.

Same here. I'm sick of cooking T-giving dinner. I don't even like T-giving food. I guess it's alright once a year, but I don't like cooking it all and the shit-ton of leftovers.

Cook the turkey to give the house that Thanksgiving smell. Buy the ALL of sides, even the stuffing. All you have to do is buy the turkey, defrost it and throw it in the oven. That will satisfy everyone. Then sit back and have a glass of whatever you want!

DD and I are doing steak and french fries. With salad and pumpkin pie. I am not a huge turkey fan and frankly making a ham for just the 2 of us is more than I want to handle.

We do have 2 pies actually. Pumpkin for me and chocolate for her. We are doing a lunch at work this week so I get some ham that day. Mostly I am just looking forward to the parade and dog show!
