So we put in a security system when we built our house 13 years ago. We never used it, and let the contract expire a decade ago. The smoke alarms also lost power a year or so after that.
H would like us to have smoke alarms , and we wondered whether we could get power to the current smoke alarms without signing up for monitoring. The battery ones are annoying, and our ceilings are high. (We want those cool new Nest ones for the kitchen and living room w fireplace).
The security company says nope, and my electrician says it's low voltage and they don't do those systems. It seems like we would just need to step down the power before it goes to the alarms, no??
I can't find anything about this by googling......
