In my Kraft Macaroni and Cheese... WTF?

Two boxes were the same. 1st one I didn't notice until I'd poured it into the pot of boiling water... Dumped that sucker out.

2nd box I looked first....

I had just purchased both boxes at the store on Sunday... Where did these evil little brown bastards come from?

3rd box was fine... so we had mac n cheese...

But I'm pissed about the 1st two boxes.

I've been finding little bugs in the kitchen. They could be the same. Idk what they are which is why I'm hoping someone who does will post how to get rid of them.

Did they look like specs? With tiny wings?

Yuck. I just checked my cupboards. found a bunch in the bisquick, an old box of macaroni, and an opened box of pancake mix. Guess I better eat that stuff faster or get some containers to store it!!

Thanks for the link, jrc.

They're flour weevils. You probably have to get rid of every box of starchy food, thoroughly clean the cupboard with something strong like vinegar and start all over.

Nothing short of an insane coincidence... I went to make tea tonight and one of the cups (decorative and on the counter in a rack) had a dead adult and a cajillion little ones in it. Why the HELL they were in there I can't say.

I looked through my cupboards and came across exactly ONE of the microscopic ones on top of a whole wheat flour bag so I chucked everything in there.

I have another cabinet with pasta... do you have to get rid of that stuff too? What about sugar?

This is so fricken gross. I'm actually completely relieved that I read this post earlier or I would have had an even bigger heart attack, I think.

weevils aren't actually dangerous. If they're getting in your dry goods a lot, just store that stuff in the freezer. We used to sift them out of our frozen flour every time we used it in China!

Just weevils. Gotta toss or filter your powdered goods, flour, soup mixes, pancake batter etc.

When we would get them when I was a kid my mom would have a pitching party and throw out everything, my Grandma on the other hand (a child of the depression) would get out her sifters, and strainers and go to work.

I personally keep that stuff in big Mason jars with locking seal lids, keeps em out.

They are just yucky, but really don't hurt the running of ya none as Grandma said. LOL.

Sorry your Mac and Cheese experience was ruined.

Use vinegar, but also add clove and cinnamon oil to the water and vinegar mixture.

Yes, airtight containers for future storage.

We used to get them all the time, now never.

Weevils. The cure is to get rid of everything floury in your kitchen or soon you will have them marching along your counters in legions.

HOWEVER, if you just brought this home from the store, you may not have an infestation yet. Get rid of the packages that are infested and hope for the best. Check your flour every week or so.
