Depends on the budget.

Lower end I would say an Oster with a glass jar and several speeds.

Mid to high would be Ninja or Kitchenaid

High would be Vitamix.

Frankly I use the Oster and have no issues, but it depends on what ingredients you plan to use and how often.

I wouldn't say "money is no object" ... but I'm willing to shell out a few dollars to get a decent machine that can crush ice and blend fruit and frozen stuff.

If money is not the determiner, check online for websites comparing Vitamix and Blendtec, to help you choose which one would work better for you. I like the Blendtec because it can fit under the kitchen counter (it's standard height, where Vitamix is taller than a normal blender) and Blendtec never needs a tamper, where Vitamix comes with a tamper. I don't think you could go wrong whichever one you choose, regarding blending capability, however.

I got mine at Sam's Club around Christmas time when they were running a special demonstration and you got an extra blending top container thingie for free with the purchase of a blender. This might be a good time to get a good deal on whatever you decide to buy. Happy shopping!

We still use our original Oster blender from the mid 1970s. It's at the cottage.

Here at home, we use a vintage Hamilton Beach blender.

In fact, H just made a banana milkshake.

The originals last much longer, IMO.

Better made!
