A friend from my college dorm was riding her bike home from work the other night and was hit by a car and the car fled the scene.

She's been on life support due to severe head trauma and numerous broken bones and was removed it earlier today. She is now dead.

While we weren't super close, I'm sad that she has died but curiously, I'm more angry about the people fleeing.

My mom was hit by a car while walking our dogs in 2005. They stopped, the passenger started to get out when the driver must have panicked and stopped her so they could drive off. My mom could've been left for dead. Luckily, all she had was a broken foot. My friend was not so lucky.

Why on earth do these people not feel guilty and ashamed enough to at least come forward even after the fact to confess and know how the victim is doing?!?!?!

My friend's story is in the newspaper so if the perp sees it, hopefully they'll turn him/herself in. If they don't, I hope karma comes back at them infinity-fold.

(((hugs)))

I am sorry for your friend and her family

I was clipped on the interstate by a hit-and-run driver in the 90's. My car hit the medium and flipped but luckily all I suffered was some bruising. Someone got the guys tag number and they did catch him. His reason? He did not have insurance and his car was not registered. People typically run when they have another reason to run -- no insurance or warrant for their arrest or drunk driving or whatever other illegal thing they are doing.

Some people think differently than the norm. There was a lady around here that hit a guy and he got stuck in her windshield. He died slowly after she parked her car in the garage when she got home.

NotDefeated, my mom told me about that one!!! Apparently, she parked her car in her garage with him still in it for a few days and when he died, she and a friend buried him. The friend, I think, confessed to police? That's nuts!!

I completely understand panicking, but not the other stuff. Thank y'all for your kind words.

So sorry to hear about this. A bicyclist touring the country was hit & killed here, driver drove off. People are hit & run here all the time. I've been a hit&run victim 3 times, once as a pedestrian at work, once hit by 18 wheeler in my truck, once rearended in my car with my then 2 y/o and 7 y/o in the car. Cops did nothing in any case, just said too bad. People really suck.

Ugh so sad. I don't get it either, I mean I get being scared and freaking out, but the fear of Karma vs the Law would make me walk myself in and confess.

Hopefully this beautiful young lady was able to help others with organ donation, it sounds like she was a candidate. It does help ease the loss for families.

I'm sorry hun.

No one changes unless they want to. Not if you beg them. Not if you shame them. Not if you use reason, emotion, or tough love. There is only one thing that makes someone change: their own realization that they need to.
