GRRR!! It is 19 degrees here right now and the low tonight is going to be 14 degrees! I hate snow and ice and thanks to this stupid artic storm I have been stuck in my apartment for 2 days now. There are people actually ice skating on the frozen concrete picnic area in front of my apartment. I made the stupid mistake of thinking it wouldn't really hit here so I didn't got stock up on food. Today I had to slowly walk across the street to the Dollar General to get some stuff to last me for a few days. I almost fell crossing the icy road and then in the icy parking lot at the store.

The roads are closed in my area and people who are driving are doing like 2 miles an hour because it is pure bloody ice on the roads. I was supposed to go pick up my dog today and I can't reach the place cause the roads are closed due to ice and accidents. We have 117,000 people who are still without electricity so I will not complain to much as I do have heat.

I was so NOT dreaming of a White Christmas!! Oh and they are predicting more sleet tonight!!

I hope everyone in Texas is staying safe and warm in this fracken Ice Storm!!

I got my jeep out and ran a couple errands yesterday. It is slow going for sure. I couldn't walk anywhere without doing some sort of crazy balancing act. You can drive on this stuff a lot easier than you can walk on it. I'm hoping it mostly dries out tomorrow, since I have places to go.

We lost our 19 year old huge oak tree. Chunk by chunk, it came falling down. It's so sad to look outside and see this magnificent tree broken down. We were so lucky it fell straight into the yard and missed the house.

Hey everyone, glad to hear that most of us are safe. Really Trying, what is her boss thinking? The police are telling everyone to NOT drive unless it is an emergency. He needs a visit from the cops to tell him how dumb he is and how he is endangering his employees. All of the state office, schools, churches and colleges are closed and most will not be able to open tomorrow either. Can't believe, that is so sad that your beautiful tree is down but thank goodness it didn't fall on your house or cars.

I am sure I looked hilarious trying to walk across the street, sliding with arms pin wheeling and all. I would have laughed if I hadn't been so afraid of breaking something if I fell. My neighbor had just told me that people were being taken into Fort Worth because the ER's in Dallas are full from all the accidents and falls.

I wished I knew someone who had a truck to drive me to pick up my dog. I need to find a way to get him today but am afraid of driving. Where I live all the exits and entrances to 35 are shut down so getting to the lady's house to pick up my doggie is gonna be tough. It is really sad when you can't drive 16 miles from home because of ice.

One good thing is that they expect the temperature to climb to 33 today so yippee...some melting! Bad news...what ever melts will freeze again tonight when it drops below freezing again.

Isn't this TEXAS? We need some of the blazing heat from summer right now!!!! Stay warm Texans.

really trying, we run into that a lot here. I mean this is winter for us, and we know how to navigate bad weather. But at least twice a winter it's bad enough that nobody should drive and yet some employers will stay open and expect people to come in. There is of course no mandatory announcement but it's expected that people will show up. It's stupid and reckless. I can see if it is Emergency Services or a seniors home or something where it's really important, but a store or a restaurant when people shouldn't be going anyway? It makes me so mad.

Go softly my sweet friend. You will always be a part of who I am.

meta, I know, right? Same thing today, both of the kids' bosses. Her BF works at Michaels. I told her how you all felt about it and she appreciates the concern.

If a store can't open, it can't pay bills. If it can't pay bills, employees don't get paid. I don't have an issue with stores being open. I've been out in this. It's not terrible, you just have to drive carefully. There will always be idiots, but that happens on dry roads too. The world cannot stop for a little bit of ice.

The words Texas and ice storms should not be used in the same sentence. It's just not right.

We're getting out fair share of nasty weather and the kids schools didn't close or get a delay. It was hard to walk to the bus stop.

Stay safe and warm everyone.

Notdefeatedyet...you are absolutely right. But I couldn't in good conscience make my employees go in on on Friday and Saturday, but left it up to them whether to go in Sunday. We opened two hours late today. My employees are ready to go back to work, they are missing out on money.

I've lost around 20k in revenue; it's a killer. You just have to drive like a grandma and don't hit your brakes suddenly. Drive in other car's tracks.

Be careful out there peeps!

13 years later...finally healed. Definitely survived and thrived and you can, too.
