Often I talk about how being a single parent has its challanges. But today I want to talk about the rewards, those moments when you know you have done something right.
We ran the Santa Shuffle 5K this weekend with our running group. DS ran it in 25 minutes and came in 11th overall inlcuding the adults - he's 12. I ran it somewhat slower..lol. But there he was at the finish line to give me a high five. I asked him why he didn't go the car with BF or go in the building but he said "no way mom, I wanted to be there to cheer you on."
It snowed yesterday and out of the blue he just got up, put on his snow gear and shovelled the driveway for me, without being asked...gasp!
There was a show about a family that got divorced and the kids had a hard time with it. DS looks at me and says "when you and dad got divorced I didn't find it hard at all."
Makes me feel that through all my missteps and stumbles I have made some great strides. What a great kid. So single parents and not single parents alike how about sharing some love and moments where we have done things right. Lets celebrate the good times.

What a wonderful story!
Here is mine..
I am working two jobs and going to school for my master's. After coming home late from school (about 9:30pm) I got home exhausted. I was nearly in tears about how overwhelemd I am and I just wanted to go to bed...
When I walked into my bedroom I saw a giant poster that my DD put together.
On it it said in big letters:
"YOU ARE APPRECIATED"
and in little "clouds" she wrote all the nice littel things that she appreciated about her mommy.
It made me cry. Just knowing that my kids appreciate me and know that I am working hard so that they can have a "normal" childhood. -Their father hasn't been seen but three times in 2 1/2 years.
He is "busy"
But mommy is always there for them and they see that.

Ninebark and Exit Wounds, that is what makes it all worth everything we go through and everything we do for them. Consider that you have succeeded. <3
