Came home today and first thing told me that I might be getting a call from one of his teachers.

Great

Seems that during a mock interview in his marketing class, when the interviewer (teacher) said "hello ds#2, you must be the new applicant".

His reply: noo ma'am, I'm the appliCAN .

The teacher was not amused. He didn't get the job.

I can't fault him though, the instructions did say that light humor can be beneficial in an interview. That and it's just friggin funny .

Sigh... I guess I'll have to be all grown up and crap and deal with this when the teacher calls.

ETA: I would have hired him just for that!

The teacher is going to call just because of that?!?! Over-reaction or what? I think it's clever and funny - I would give him extra points for it!

That is awesome!! Too bad the teacher is uptight and didn't see the humor.

Ditto!

If that teacher calls just for that... then she's a uptight dipwad!!!

Oh, for shit's sake! I once hired a kid who told me he was late for the interview because when he was getting out of the car, he noticed he had a zit on his nose and he had to pop it before he could come in. Then he proceeded to insult me by saying he enjoyed his previous job in customer service for a computer company because he liked helping old people--people in their 30s and 40s.

He turned out to be one of my best employees.

I would have hired your DS

I wouldn't hire the teacher. What an old crow.

That is funny, and I would have busted a gut to start with.

Really? What a misery she is! That was funny and sweet and like ThoughtIKnewYa, I'd probably have hired him on the strength of that alone.

I think his humor would help him unless he is interviewing at a Funeral Home.

I would have hired him on the spot.

Talked with the teacher today... I pointed out the light humor on the instruction sheet. She said she didn't find the play on words to be "light" humor, but something like talking about the weather would be appropriate .

I told her I had consulted a panel of experts (you guys ), and while humor can be subjective, the general consensus was that it was funny and appropriate, and we would just have to disagree on what light humor was. I then looked at my bare wrist and said "look at the time! thank you for meeting with me."

Hopefully, when DS#2 goes for a real interview, one of you guys will be his potential boss .

Why, thank you. I've never been on a panel of experts before. And what part of the country is she in? The weather is anything but funny right now!!!

I totally would have appreciated that humor! What a curmudgeon!

Wow he sounds like a natural!
(& teacher isn't, so she's envious, sigh)
Wonder where he got it?
