Flu anyone?

I cannot remember having the flu since I was little.

I think I have it now

H. came home from a flight on Friday evening with this crud. He went downhill in a matter of hours.

I grocery shopped this morning, made soup, and plumbed my sink.

Now I'm knocked out with 102 fever, chills, aches, and now having trouble keeping fluids down.

Flu?

Anybody had it yet? What to expect?

TIA

If you can get to the doc tomorrow and get Tamiflu, you can cut it short. Otherwise, you're in for a week of relative misery.

Thanks for the reminder to get my flu shot

I had it last week. Was out with friends Sunday at Nordstrom's big shopping party, drinking wine and spending money. Had a little sore throat on the way home, then BOOM, fever, chills, body aches, stuffed up head and cough--all of it. I was a pitiful mess.

I took Dayquil and Nyquil, drank gallons of fluids and alternated Tylenol and Advil every two hours for the first two days and moved only from my bed to the couch for a change of scenery. Today, a week later, I finally felt good enough to go out.

So sorry TSMF--I hope you and your H get better soon.

Glad you are feeling better, meaniemouse. I can now see why people get flu shots because this definitely sucks!! And the timing sucks to in that I'm not finished with Christmas shopping nor do I have the first gift wrapped.

Aside from the body aches, we're both having really bad headaches. Does that just go with it?

TSMF - Call your Dr and see if you can get Tamiflu if started in the first 48 hours it can make a big difference in how sick and how long you stay sick.

I am also a big fan of Zicam, and EsterC to help lessen the effects....

I didn't get my flu shot until late last fall, and guess what I was getting the flu the day I got the shot, I was sick as a dog for a week, slowly started getting better, and then it progressed into pneumonia. I was sick for a month total. Inhalers, super strong antibiotics, and an argument with my PCP about me needing to be in the hospital later, I finally started to get well. It took 2 months to shake the cough left over though.

Keep an eye on yourself and if it starts to get worse after 5 days go to your Dr!!!

((((truth)))) I hope you were able to get to your doctor and get started on Tamiflu. Seriously - it makes a MAJOR difference in your illness path.

Hi everyone...thanks for the input. I did get to the dr this morning and he gave me the tamiflu. However, it is making me vomit which means I'm not getting fluids. I took a homeopathic "tamiflu" last night - which I think also cased the vomiting. Don't know what's going on with that - but it's even over riding the anti-nausea medicine.

Definitely doing flu shots after this. I'm converted.

I confess - I poo-pooed the flu for years until I got a really, really bad strain about 10 years ago. I got over it but coughed for 4-5 months afterward.

The shots are no guarantee but they certainly help.

Feel better!
