SI news that is... I'll include my cookie news!
I have a new cookie baker in the house!!!
DS12 wanted to take chocolate chip cookies to an end of semester party he's having in his World Languages Class...
So... HE made the cookies. (well so far just the dough) We will bake them tomorrow.
He did all the measuring, ran the stand mixer, stirred in the chocolate chips... He even decided "No nuts, because of nut allergies mom."
I can't wait to see the finished product tomorrow.

It's wonderful getting them going on baking. My daughter started at age 4 and we've been baking together for 31 years. Last year we got GD, then 4, involved, and this year GD5 and GD-almost4 made one cookie variety--cranberry orange walnut-- pretty much from scratch. They measured, mixed, beat, combined and shaped the cookies, then measured and mixed the glaze. Darn good cookies, too! The only things they didn't do involved sharp objects: I zested the orange, and my daughter chopped the cranberries and walnuts.
Bet your son will be so pleased with himself when they're all done. I want a pic!
Age: 64..ummmmmmm, no...............65....no...oh, hell born in 1947. You figure it out!

I can't wait to see pics. That is a big task to take on.
*Slight t/j
He even decided "No nuts, because of nut allergies mom."
Speaking as a mom with a child who has a peanut allergy, I love that he thought of this.
On the side, I hope the package labels were read because depending on the chocolate chips he used they could have "been produced in a factory that also produces peanuts." Which will have the possible cross contamination. I've seen this wording on tons of products that don't actually have peanuts or nuts in them so we can't use them when baking for my daughter. We had to switch from Nestle chocolate chips to other brands because of this warning, and we couldn't by Sunkist orange juice popsicles because of the same warning label.
Sorry for the t/j

We used Tollhouse Mini Chocolate Chips... So, there probably is some cross contamination.
I didn't think about it... and I'm sure he didn't either.
But he tried...
Baking will occur later tonight.

I wasn't trying to take anything away from him. He did a great job.
I just wanted to help with any possible cross contamination. Food allergies are so difficult to work with sometimes.
