.......and *up* in the air it went, oh my....

My plan was to let DS14 open the very first 'glittified' card so I could see the look on his face. Talk about your all-time backfire!!!

He pulls it out, and is at first alarmed because there's a bunch of *stuff* leaking out. So he holds it flat.....opens it up.......sees the mound of glitter......and WHOOSH! Launches it (ALL OF IT) straight up into the air. In my kitchen. Oy.Vey!

Middle kid, who is disabled and doesn't understand "be careful to open it over the bowl".....wants to join the party, so we grab a couple cards and head out onto the front porch. He's holding it close to his face, and I have no idea how he did it, but when he ripped it open.....he totally glitter-bombed himself right in the face.

I shake my head -- it rains glitter. Both of my dogs are sparkly. We decided not to sweep the glitter up (not like we could anyway, right?)...and just track it all throughout the house. That's called *spreading the love*, right?

Yes, Aub. Opening those cards was a blast.
As I was looking on in horror at my 14 yo's really bad attempts (on purpose, I surmise) to *get it in the bowl*.......disabled guy was grabbing cards and ripping them open with abandon. (thanks to those who put tape on the envelopes -- it gave me the opportunity to *notice* what he was doing and intervene with a *not-so-crumbly-feeling* card...)

I'm standing in my kitchen, which is covered in a layer of glitter, festive confetti....and *oh look*, there's a piece of tinsel stuck to my foot... a shiny penny on the counter....and I'm laughing.

Today. Life is good.

I didn't participate in the card exchange but did receive a few cards from my fellow SI staffers. I'm finding glitter in odd places and still cleaning it up.

I can't even imagine the effects of the glitter for those who are participating in the card exchange shenanigans!

Making mashed potatoes for dinner. One of those suckers went flying as I was peeling it. Landed on the floor.

We're having 'glitterfied' mashed potatoes for dinner tonight!

because it's perfect, I'm so plagiarizing what Mo3K said on facebook when she was trying to explain the glitter in Christmas cards to a (I think) non-SIer.

the glitter = love.

Yay!

Next year they can help you add glitter to the cards you send out.

Now Santa can find your house. The kids did this with oats and glitter for Santa's reindeer, when they were in preschool. It was fun to sprinkle the lawn Christmas Eve.

Now that you know they like it, you can add extra special love (aka glitter) to their birthday cards. My kids, nephews, and nieces loved getting them in the mail! If I didn't experience the glitter bombs last year and feel the love, I would not have thought of doing it. I can't wait to see if their Christmas cards have glitter-mine (to them) do.

This is so awesome! The kids must have really enjoyed it, too! I sooo wanted to participate this year but I am so new at this SI thing. Hoping you all do it again next year so I can "feel the glitterized love" here in my little neck of the woods. Thanks for sharing the fun.

Yes, Kajem. Gotcha indeed.....with your mounds of very-fine red glitter.

DD, better to go from to ; than to , right?
