This time of year can be a little tougher on the emotions. With holiday stress, dreary skies, barren trees, limited daylight, and cold weather, i find myself being a little more down than usual. It is normal. Its happened every year for as long as I can remember. Just remembering that takes some of the load off.
If you find yourself a little more down than you think you should be, just remember spring will come. Maybe not as fast as I want, but it will come.
Be gentle with yourself. Take some extra care of yourself. And share how you are feeling.

I woke up feeling grumpy and have been stressed out the past few days so this was a timely post for me.
It seems that everything is annoying me lately. I sit here wondering why...is it hormones? Work's been stressful? Feeling like there's so much to do, always?
Thank you for the reminder to take a breath and be gentle on myself.
I also try to remind myself of all the blessings in my life, and there are so many.
Thanks, Chicho.
DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

I struggle this time of year too. I am going to work before the sun is really up and then it is setting when I leave. I can't see the outside from my work and if I don't get out to lunch I really don't see it. I am looking forward to Saturday which is the day in the Northern Hemisphere with the least amount of daylight and then we can start regaining extra daylight minutes each and every day.

Getting outdoors and going for a walk during lunch helps me. I also enjoy either walking/driving around at night, looking at holiday decorations. Even the ugly ones.
It also helps to have a little personal reward system. One of mine, for example, is when I walk outdoors in the bitter cold, whether it's to get the dogs out, or shovel snow, is a mug of hot cocoa when I come back inside. Looking forward to that reward makes the cold and/or dark a bit more tolerable and my mood a little brighter.
Take care, everyone.
