Hi all!

I bought a certified pre-owned car from a reputable dealer about 6 weeks ago. I bought an extended warranty/service contract through the dealer too.

A few days after I got it, I was involved in a major accident. I got it back, and then yesterday I noticed what I think is whining from the front differential. (I've only put 1,000 miles on the vehicle at most.)

My question is this.

I called the dealer this morning (as the warranty requires) and told them about the issue and asked when I could bring it in. They told me they COULD have me drop it off today but it won't be looked at until Thursday. That means I would be paying for a rental today, tomorrow, and the next day before it's even LOOKED at - and that's like $100.

If I choose to wait to drop it off until Thursday morning, am I voiding my warranty in any way? Should I even be worried about this? I asked the girl at the service department and she said it's fine but I've been screwed over, like, ten times this year, so I'm very nervous. Also, very broke. VERY, VERY broke.

How likely is it that the problem is due to the accident? Is your beef with the car dealer or with the body shop and insurance company?

I'm not so sure it's related to the accident :/ it would actually be bad if it was - the warranty covers a rental vehicle for a few days, but if it was not warranty coverage, I'd be paying for the rental out of pocket for the duration.

I don't have a beef really so much as I'm worried that if I don't drop the car off today (vs. Thursday), the warranty co. will reject the charges.

Is that something that happens or have I been reading about health insurance for too long?

I work in a car dealership in Canada.

The warranty company won't cover the rental for the 3 days that you leave it at the dealership, best bet is to leave it there on the Thursday. It will not void your warranty if you bring it in on Thursday
