Just curious, thanks.

ILINIA, if there isn't you can always throw one yourself. My first g2g was one my H and I hosted. Not as intimidating as it sounds.

But just curious, where in the midwest are you? Me, I'm in SW Ohio.

nowiknow23 posted 1/4/2014 15:54 PM

There was a small one in Chicago in August and a bigger one in Detroit in October.

The past two summers, there's been one in the St. Louis area (although hosted by different people).

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the likelyhood of a Midwest g2g is directly proportionate to the ambient temperature, so it's unlikely anyone will schedule one when it's SO FREAKING COLD. Ahem.

PM sent, ILINIA.

I'm in the midwest and will travel

Aubrie posted 1/6/2014 09:42 AM

Depending when and where, QS and I may be interested.

Vague much?

Clarrissa posted 1/6/2014 19:40 PM

Considering most country seems to have been dipped in liquid nitrogen (there was a *blistering* high of 1 degree here today ) I think holding off on a midwest g2g would be a good idea... dontcha t'ink?

nowiknow23 posted 1/6/2014 19:47 PM

Clarrissa - your high beat mine by more than 10 degrees.

I ain't coming out until Spring.

Clarrissa posted 1/6/2014 20:10 PM

NIK, that high was about 5:00 this morning. It got colder from there. At noon it was about -5. If my H hadn't picked me up from work it would have been about -9 by the time I got home. But typical Ohio weather, we're supposed to be up near 50 by the end of the week.

Similarly, it's supposed to be almost 40 here, by Saturday 14 inches of snow + rain + 40-ish degrees=FLOODING

As for a G2G, Do3K and I *may* be able to come. It would really depend on when and where, though.

School has been cancelled for the second day due to windchills, yep, cold even for us Midwesterners!

So there are rumblings about a G2G forming this spring in the Northern Illinois/SE Wisconsin area. More information will be coming after our fingers have thawed, probably early March give or take!

I am already a bit giddy!

Oooh...can't wait to see if the date works with my schedule!!

Clarrissa posted 1/6/2014 21:36 PM

Too far for us, unfortunately.

And Mama, no flooding worries for us here unless there's rain and snowmelt of truly Biblical proportions. Gotta love our system of dams and levees...

I'm in. I'm right on the Illinois/Wisconsin border, right by the lake.

I heard rumors that there was going to be a TREK to Riverside, IA one of these summers.

Ascendant posted 1/7/2014 01:47 AM

*Gasp* Future birthplace of James Tiberius Kirk?

Clarrissa posted 1/7/2014 05:37 AM

FP, yep, that's the place. They claimed him and no one protested.

MovingUpward posted 1/7/2014 06:49 AM

Riverside, IA. Hmmm I better line up my rental with Enterprise.

Clarrissa posted 1/7/2014 08:07 AM

That would be most apropos, Moo.

ILINIA posted 1/7/2014 11:43 AM

I never knew that about Captain Kirk, so I spent some reading up about Riverside, IA this morning. I did make the assumption that Riverside was on the Mississippip River, so Im glad that was cleared up. Thanks for the diversion!

I am assuming once the thaw happens, there will be more g2g popping up!
