Who is planning on watching tonight? I LOVE this show and have been waiting for this day.

Me me me me memememememem!!!!

FaithFool posted 1/5/2014 13:06 PM

No spoilers! I won't get to see it until ITunes delivers.

I am an addict.

Yay - it's back!!!!

Elaine2012 posted 1/5/2014 14:16 PM

I'm in, I love this show! Going to sit in front of a nice fire and not think about how cold it is outside!

nowiknow23 posted 1/5/2014 14:56 PM

Never seen it. I'll pause for a moment so everyone can get over the shock.

Will I be completely lost if I just start watching the new season?

Chrysalis123 posted 1/5/2014 15:09 PM

Maybe for the first 20 minutes. It is a version of Upstairs Downstairs with lots of subplots going on in both places as well as between the upstairs and the downstairs staff.

Afraid2LoveAgain posted 1/5/2014 17:43 PM

I have it set to record--but I'm sure I'll stay up to watch.

Yes, I go to bed that early :). I'm a morning lark and never sleep past 5:30. Our daughter kids us about it--since she's a night owl.

I loved Matthew. I'll miss him.

woundedwidow posted 1/5/2014 17:51 PM

Count me in too! I've even entered the online PBS contests to win a trip to Highclere Castle - didn't win though (darn!). Tonight should be really good - I've already figured out which person belowstairs is leaving, hehe!

Lola88 posted 1/5/2014 18:35 PM

Seen it, loved it - enjoy!

FaithFool posted 1/5/2014 19:58 PM

NIK, if I were you I'd catch the first two seasons on Netflix. By the time you're done with those, Season 3 should be out and you can catch that.

By the time you're done, they should have Season 4 on there. Or you can get it on ITunes. I would watch from the beginning, it's so much richer that way.

So we're not allowed to discuss plot here? I think something big is going to happen based on something that was in the season premier.

Afraid2LoveAgain posted 1/8/2014 05:37 AM

I love your graphic, TrulyReconciled.

I'll miss O'Brien--even though it was blatantly foreshadowed that she would be leaving. I didn't get Rose's obsession with finding a replacement maid, unless she just felt that bad that her mother had taken O'Brien.

Also, WTH is Thomas doing after Bates save his ass (her Ladyship's soap). Thomas is the most complex of characters--one minute you feel sympathy for him and the next you want to throttle him.

Mary's words about Matthew being the only one who could see her softness choked me up. And, of course, Maggie Smith was stellar as always.

The whole Carson's old friends and Mrs. Crawley's taking him in seemed kind of out of place. Perhaps they are trying to round out Carson's role.

Edith's clothes were gorgeous! It's interesting to watch the hemlines rising.

Loved the Countess's smack down of the nanny!

So, Project free TV has like...the whole 4th season....but, the dates are wrong - whats up with that??

tryingagain74 posted 1/8/2014 11:49 AM

Undefinabl3-- you might be seeing the dates that it was telecast in the UK. They got it first, and we're just getting it now, so the whole season or most of it might be out there already. In fact, Julian Fellowes (creator of Downton) complained about that in a recent interview-- he wished that it could be simultaneously telecast in both countries so that there wouldn't be any spoilers on the internet to ruin it for the fans in the US!

Anyone else think that Edith should run for her life and away from her "I'll change my citizenship to German so I can get divorced" boyfriend? I think this is going to end tragically no matter how Fellowes plays it-- he's either going to die over in Germany during the post WWI unrest, or this whole thing is a lie, and Edith is going to meet his perfectly sane and decent wife, who is going to tell her that Edith is only one in a long string of mistresses who has fallen for his lies.

OMG yes!!!

I love me some Downton too!!

Yes, me too. I can't seem to decide if I like Edith, after her whole thing with the married farmer, I just can't seem to like her much.

I am really nervous too about what sort of trouble Mrs. Braithwaite might cause. I really like Branson.

kwash posted 1/8/2014 13:12 PM

Yay! We can talk about plot!

- I agree about Edith's love interest. I kep thinking we had seen him go home to his sane wife last season, but I must be thinking of another show (or maybe I'm psychic)!!

- I to am nervous about Ivy showing up. Her and Thomas laughing away consipratorily around Anna and Bates has me worried.

- What was up with the evil nanny??! I have an idea about what that was foreshadowing...a Lindberghesque kidnapping!

I love DA!!

Undefinabl3 posted 1/8/2014 14:45 PM

Well, then I am a few episodes in and will not spoil it for anyway...

But i have a bad feeling about Edith and the dude.....bad bad
