Hey kids,

A bunch of you had expressed interest in seeing video from my gig last week. 13 recorded these with his phone, so the quality isn't great. I think it makes my mandolin sound a little more high-pitched and annoying than it normally sounds (at least I hope so!).

Here are four of the sixteen songs I performed.

Blind Stupid Love (The Barnacle Song)

Also, I don't think I've mentioned this before, but one of the board of directors for the folk society I belong to got in touch with me to see if I have a band. She has a concert coming up in March that she needs one more band for. Since I run the weekly folk jam for them, I told her that I will have one put together in no time. I got in touch with a couple guys, and we'll be playing a 45 minute set at this concert. Feeling pretty cool about this.

ALSO, a guy who is one of the organizers for the weekly open stage I attend is also the artistic director for a new festival in town (this April will be its third annual festival). He told me that he wants to have a banjo workshop at the festival, and asked if I would be willing to get up on a stage with three other banjo players to talk about our banjos, our playing philosophy, etc., and do some playing. I said yes, of course. Now there are two things that are really cool about being asked to do this:

#1 - The other three banjo-players are the best in the city, so he obviously thinks I'm in the same class as they are. I don't, but I'm willing to accept the compliment.

#2 - I had decided a couple of years ago, when my therapy first started, that I needed to set some goals for myself, and that at least one of them should be a ridiculous goal. My ridiculous goal was to play at a festival in 2014. How frigging cool is THAT?

This is such an awesome post. I am loving all of the good things happening for you. Keep putting those ridiculous goals out there, you never know what the universe will answer with

Awesome, great job!

Dang, I'm at the library, no headphones so I need to wait until I get home.

Woohoo!!! Great job ... I agree the audio quality leaves a little to be desired, but WTG in any case! Kudos on the festival too!
