I never have been called by a debt collector.

I also never carried a balance on my card.

They left a generic message to call a number but the never cant be completed as dialed.

Very odd - wrong number or a scam?

Thanks!

Scam. Do they identify themselves as being from "Card Services" calling about your current credit card account? Usually a "Rachel" or "Heather" is the caller. I get this call a couple times a month. It's a scam - for what, exactly, I am unsure - but I wouldn't suggest calling them back or worrying about it.

Is this a newer phone number that you have?

I got a new cell phone/number a few months ago, and was recently contacted by a debt collection agency. Apparently the new phone number that I have used to be owned by someone else. I finally picked up and explained to them that they have the wrong person. They asked me if I was <firstname lastname>, and I said no, and they haven't called since. I did not give them any of my personal information, other than saying I was not that person (I didn't even give them my name).

Good luck!

This happened to me too. However, I have been receiving these call every 4 to 6 months for almost 9 years now. They always call for the same woman. I swear if I ever run into "LaTonya Banks" I'm going to kick her ass

If you still have the voicemail and/or phone number they called from, do a google search on that number and see what pops. Many people report numbers online and give a description of who is calling and why.

It's a scam.
They used to call STBX's number all the time, hell probably still do. He got suckered into a full conversation once. I honestly believe they shared his number with other scammers.

I don't need further confirmation of what a fuckwit he is. I already have plenty, thanks very much. -SBB

I can sooo relate Lies.

We were getting calls for the same person for years as well. Most of the time I was very patient. Why kill the messenger...

However, there were 2 specific calls from the same collection agency that I went OFF on after I was patient for about 2++ years.

We finally disconnected the landline. Hardly ever used it anymore. They stopped then.

It's a scam. File a complaint with the FTC. That should stop the calls - it does the trick for me.
