I'm in the DC area. Hint of snow, mass panic ensues. All schools are closed already. I homeschool so my kids still have school, Muah ha ha.
Seriously tho, after living in Buffalo, NY, it's amusing.

We're not getting snow but we are under an extreme cold watch. The kids still go to school but they don't go out for recess or breaks.
It must be different for you having lived in Buffalo. We are very close to Buffalo on the Canadian side so we get pretty much the same weather. It has to be BAD for our kids to stay home.

We had snow last night followed by wind gusts and dangerous wind chills. They were predicting wind chills as low as -40F overnight. At the moment, however, the wind chill is a balmy -22F. Schools are delayed due to the wind chills, and we have more snow coming tonight. Yay.

We're supposed to get about 4 to 8 inches, but who knows. I usually don't worry about that until it's all said and done. Weather changes so quickly. My son's best friend in CT has a half day today because of the weather. Our school system is still open. We're also under a wind chill advisory. It is freezing out there!

Yup. I'm not even sure how much were getting, as the total seem to keep changing - and each expert has completely different maps. :/

I'm also in Baltimore/DC. I'm actually at work right this minute. They're expecting 8 to 10 up my way.
Sorry, I may get flak for it, but kids are wimps these days. When I was in school, there could be 2 inches of ice on the ground PLUS 18 inches of snow and they STILL made us go to school. Now? They close schools when there isn't even one flake on the ground.
Gah, that's how you know you're old. I can hear myself saying it now. "When I was your age...."

Got 4 inches last night and we will get snow every day this week. FUN!
I don't have as big of an issue with it as some though. I can't stand the people who suddenly can't function in the snow.
It's Indiana people - we get snow here!! Every.single.year.about.the.same.time. For crying out loud its like they have never seen it before.

We might get a "dusting" this morning. At last check? Nada. My DD is pissed about that. Hasn't snowed "for real" in two winters.
It's supposed to get flipping cold here starting this afternoon. Blech.

That's why I sit in the car with the kids on the really cold days. Although, my son is too cool to sit in a car with me, so he'll take standing outside in sub-zero weather. My daughter (whose school is around the corner) gets a ride in a nice warm car

Clipper moved through last night, and despite it being nearly 50 here yesterday, we had "Flash Freezing" and about 1 inch of snow.
Commute to work took double the normal amount of time, roads snowy and icy, and all schools are closed, my kids were already off today, for some teacher thing, so whew, no snow day today.

dameia,
If you love the snow I'll send you mine. I'm afraid to drive in it. I got into three car accidents (no damage, just going off the road) and I've been afraid ever since. Not fun...

Same here - but in the US. We actually usually get more snow annually than Buffalo because Lake Erie freezes and Lake Ontario does not.
We got about 3" yesterday and are now under the Polar Freeze blanket with below 0 wind chills.
