So.....I was assaulted on the subway this morning. Got up preparatory to getting off at Yonge, needed to hold a pole because let's face it, my balance isn't what it used to be, when the driver decides to slam on the brakes. Hoodied young man leaning on the pole took umbrage at my reaching behind him to grab the pole, shoved me, then whacked my wrist, all the time yelling for me to get my "f'ing hands off him" and calling me very rude names. And how was your commute?

Oh Lynnm...are you ok?? How terrible!!

My hand is a bit swollen but I'm otherwise OK.

He was obviously either mentally ill or in a drug-induced paranoia. After he was finished screaming at me, he took the seat I'd vacated, mumbling to himself, then got up and moved further down the car. Apparently I am very scary. My S/O laughed about this. He said, "OMG, if he only knew that would be like suspecting Gandhi of violence!"

Awful! I hope you are ok. Take care.

What the hell is wrong with people?!
Ok, so the guy was (probably) on something and out of his head. Why didn't one of the other passengers step in?!!

I hope you're ok and your hand heals quickly.

I think if I had been in any real danger, people would have. Unfortunately the people closest to me were tiny women! He wasn’t a big guy, but he had paranoia on his side.

I'm sorry to hear this. I'm glad to hear you're all right and I hope your hand heals quickly.
