DS and I are driving to Michigan to visit my Grandma and Uncle.
I'm also planning to show the kid around my old stomping grounds...
Anyone in the SE part of Michigan gonna be around in June?
Ann Arbor/Saline/Tecumseh and the Detroit area are all in the plans.
Not sure of the dates yet.

Wish I could but no way the van could make the trip. However you simply MUST stop in Dayton either on the way there or on the way home. Straight shot down I-75. Weekends are best but if it comes to it I still have plenty of vacation time left.

That won't work. We always have the MI get togethers in the fall, or in February. We can't have one in nice weather

Yeah, it definitely wouldn't work unless LD and I were outside sharing our life stories shivering in the cold with the other smokers while DS, MH and the rest of the group were inside doing shots of Patron, which according to DS you don't get drunk off of because it's the good stuff
.
DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

jrc, of course the museum is still there. It was closed for a while during that nonsense in Washington a few months back but it's open for business again. They're planning some changes but no major construction going on if memory serves. So, you have a very good reason to stop by.

Definitely a good reason to stop at both Clarissa's and Mama's!
I want to hit Dayton on the way up from Florida and Mama's area on the way back.

Just let us know when you'll be by.
Been meaning to go to the museum ourselves. Been awhile. Oh and BTW, technically it's The National Museum of the United States Air Force.

It used to be just The Air Force Museum but they changed the name to The National Museum of the United States Air Force. Same place, different name. And that's the only Air Force museum in the area.
Oh and found out today that some folks in Austin have their panties in a twist over one of the planes. The LBJ Presidential Library seem to think that SAM 26000 (JFKs Air Force One) rightfully belongs there, not here. After all, we're just "some town in Ohio" (their words). The Secretary of the Air Force told them no, they can't have it, even on loan. The LBJ Library's response was essentially "We'll see". They refuse to accept that decision as final. So basically, they're going to take on the USAF about the disposition of a plane the USAF *still has jurisdiction over* (as they do ALL the aircraft at the museum).
*I don't mean this as criticism of any individual in Austin or even Texas. I just think the curators (?) of the LBJ Library deem themselves a bit *too* important to essentially tell the Air Force their reasoning for housing that particular plane here was severely flawed...*
