Wow. I did it. I set a consult day. Cover story in place. Sorta. I have all documentation ready. I have all the financials.

I did ask a question that has me faltering. How much is the retainer? Initial consult is free. But the retainer is 3k to 5k. Omg. Where does that come from?? I don't have rich family. No assets to sell. No savings. He has killed every extra cent we had. I thought I was doing well that I squirreled away $400 in three months. At that rate I'll have retainer in three years?!?? Obviously divorce is for the rich and

Wealthy. Idk what I'm gonna do. I'll go. See what they have to say. But if they need that much up front I think I'm trapped....

You'll be ok. Get as much info as you can at the consult. You'll feel in control after you have information.

I put my retainer on a credit card and in the D settlement had it written that ex-shat would pay 2/3 of my attorney fees (I was a SAHM at the time).

See if your city has a legal aid bureau and see if you'll qualify.

Other than that, I would suggest credit card.

Marriages that start this way, stepping over the bodies of loved ones as the giddy couple walks down the aisle, are not likely to last.

Thanks to the WH all credit is maxed out. Not available. I'm ginna have to explore other ways. Maybe legal aid. My issue is that we are totally maxed on credit. Totally upside down on everything. He is not real bright when it comes to money. He spends way more than we have.
