A fantastic man, a fantastic life. He wouldn't be a bad model for anyone to emulate.
I never really warmed up to his singing, except for 'Waist Deep in the Big Muddy', which I saw the night it was broadcast. My bet is that I'd have loved him if I had seen him live, as he was that night on the Smothers Brothers.
