Ugh. Just ugh.

I'm headed to the DMV to get my license renewed. My birthday is Friday and it's expiring that day, so I have no choice. I really, really wish there had been another year left on it, because I'm going to have to renew it with my married name.

I didn't want to do that, but I have business and personal tax stuff in progress so its not feasible to change it until all that is done. I'm still not sure what I want to change it to anyway.

Looking at my old license. It's a good picture. I couldn't wait to get it, with my "new" name. In the photo I'm all newlywed glowy, smiling and tan from a 10 day honeymoon in Maui.

Me now. Blech. My skin is paler, my hair is longer. I'm 50 pounds lighter and 6 years older. Do I even try to smile for this photo today??

I've been doing sort of okay in general, but Valentines sucked, I'm not looking forward to my birthday, and the DMV is never fun, even under the best of circumstances.

I guess I just needed to whine a little bit.

Thanks for listening.

Sometimes it's things like this that just get under your skin. Sorry the timing wasn't better for you. Can you eat a Hershey bar while you wait, and read a gossipy magazine? Childish and unproductive but comforting

I had to spell my last name on the phone today. I realized I was clenching my teeth and thinking how much I hate it.

They wouldn't let me smile. They have new rules for taking the pictures. No smiling. And they made me take my glasses off, so I actually couldn't see anything when the pic was snapped - and it shows. That blank look in my eyes. It's the first horrible picture I've taken for my DL.

Why oh why do they set drivers licenses to expire on your birthday? Needlessly cruel. Surely it is unnecessary and it adds a real extra annoyance to the renewal process! I am sending bad thoughts to the DMV on your behalf!

Sit. Feast on your life.

NG,

Yeah... I saw the sign under the camera "Glasses OFF for all photographs!" The gal did tell me I could smile if I wanted though, and to look at the little stuffed orange bear.

Gah. Whatever. The photo is horrible beyond horrible. Worst DL pic ever. The good news is the whole ordeal only took about 20 minutes.

I was allowed to smile but didn't want to. I kind of half heatedly lifted the edges of my lips. Lol

Oh well, it hides in my wallet the majority of the time anyway.
