Send your good wishes my way -- I have a raging case of PMS today, and will likely see AP tonight at a school function.

I hate, hate, hate that it that it will be polluted with her presence, but I will do my best to rise above. (Deep breath.)

I am certain she cannot measure up to your brains and class. She is invisible to you.

I'm saying this prayer, "God, please be with bionic gal as she needs you now. Please help her make decisions that reflect her values - kindness and grace. Give her some peace through this God, as these are trying times and she needs support. If there's any way she could feel the army of supporters she had on SI and IRL, please allow her to feel this in her heart."

Let us know how it goes.
You are a better woman than I..,,

Oh you guys, you made me cry. And here's the thing. . .AP and OBS were there, and I simply acted as if they didn't exist. (It helped that I forgot my glasses at home.) There were a lot of people, and I knew they were there, but I enjoyed talking to my many friends, and realizing that I still have a community that I love. H was a little more worried about it, and had to steer me from actually running into them once. He is nervous about seeing OBS in particular.

And here's a snide karma aside -- The event was a Book Bowl competition for grades 3-5. Kids are on teams from their schools, and they have to read 10-20 books and answer questions on them as a team. I helped coach my son's team, and the kids worked super hard.

Over the years, AP (whose son was on another team) had always lauded how brilliant her son was, and made a big deal about what a great reader he is (he truly is.) I, a total book geek with a M.A. in Lit, always felt like my son (who is no slouch with reading, but prefers comic books to classics, and sports above all else) was kind of looked down on. She even said at one point, "well - maybe he is more like his (engineer) dad?")

Well guess what -- my son's team totally won first place! First!

Makes a momma proud. So see, it turned out ok. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts. Truly.
