5 years ago, around my birthday, I started thinking in terms of a 5 year plan. I was still married, but in what deep down I knew was false R (but wasn't ready to admit that yet). I also knew that regardless of whether my marriage survived or not, my life was going to drastically change over the next 5 years.

And well, I was right.

So now I've got this big milestone birthday next month. Things haven't happened exactly how I thought that would. Somehow though, I've still managed to check off most everything in the plan.

And I am embracing this birthday, celebrating not only my surviving the past 5 years, but also the new beginning I've built for myself. Instead of a freakin' midlife crisis, I'm having a midlife adventure. Life is good.

Here's my birthday present to myself...

Love it!!

For what would have been my Silver Anniversary, I bought myself a very nice stainless steel mandolin (kitchen slicer)! I am so proud of it and every time I use it I think "I made it! I really made it!"

I hope you enjoy your NB ring as much as I enjoy my NB mandolin
