I have recently started dating a really nice man. (His ex also a serial cheater). I had gone out the night before with friends in the city. He called the next day to ask how my night went. I told him that we ended up going to Tapas bar. "A what?" A Tapas bar. "What"? "Where"? You know, a Spanish restaurant that serves small plates of food.

20 minutes after I hang up I realize that he thought I was saying Topless. Duh, it did take me a while before it crossed my mind. I could not stop laughing!
He must have thought Okay here come the crazy that she has kept hidden so far!

Thank God he gave me the benefit of the doubt and I took the time to explain.

Sure, a bunch of women choosing to hang at the topless bar on a Saturday night!

I had much the same reaction the first time someone tried to explain Tapas to me.

If you only knew

I've lost some of my hearing and find myself reading lips more. Lets just say some conversations can be entertaining

The one time when texting would have been the better option.

Think I will go there on my next girl's night out!

When Tapas restaurants first started becoming popular I worked for the Chamber of Commerce in a mid sized, trendy city. We often got calls asking for restaurant recommendations. Almost every time we recommended this new Tapas bar the caller would get honked off that as a Chamber we were recommending smut.
