My neighbors gave their nine year old son a shotgun for his birthday, recently. It was really bothering me because he was shooting unsupervised, clearly had no training on how to handle a weapon, and I felt like it was just a matter of time before someone got hurt or killed.
Many people suggested I call the cops non-emergency or CPS. I ended up not having to get involved, at all. I'm guessing that one of the parents of the kids he took out in the field one day (some were really little!) said something because the there was no gun for a couple of weeks and, when we saw it again, his dad was with him and took him well away from the houses to shoot at *whatever*. So, all is well, but that kid still scares the crap out of me!

I don't blame you. I would be very upset, too, and likely would have made those calls! I hope the situation really has been handled, for everyone's sake.
