It's not a bad thing. Just...unexpected.

I honestly thought babies weren't in the cards for me. My XH and I were "not careful" for 8 years and I didn't even have as much as a scare. SO and I are "not careful" for 3 months and here we are. (We've been together for 6 years, but have just recently taken birth control off the table).

I have to say, SO reacted much better than I thought he would. Obviously we knew it was possible, with the "not careful" and all, but I really thought he would be a little more panicked. Nope. I panicked for him.

Anyway, it's early days and we're not up for telling people IRL yet, but I had to tell someone, so I came here

Congrats bluelady! Sometimes the biggest surprises are the best ones. I didn't plan either of my children, we were so young, but I wouldn't trade them, or the memories, for anything in the world. ((bluelady))

Congratulations. Glad SO didn't panic ... that should come later, when the size of the task becomes clearer.

We were always careful, and we started planning for our kid after a pregnancy test came back positive. so is that planned or unplanned?

I well remember our quiet ride home after hearing the news - neither of us knew what the other was thinking or feeling, and we were using public transportation, so we couldn't talk freely.

Parenthood turned out to be immensely more joyful than we expected, and I hope it does for you, too.

One kid for us, BTW - we're both first-borns....

Congrats!

Rule of thumb I learned in med school;

Penis in vagina equals baby maybe!

Omg, congratulations!! I am a year older than you and just threw away the BC pills this last month. I hope I get pregnant just as quickly.

Congratulations!!!

Nothing quite as nice as a sleepy newborn snuggling your shoulder.

Parenting has been one of my greatest joys, I wish you both much joy parenting your baby.

Didn't plan our third kiddo. I was 34 when he was born and I swear that kid saved me through all the crap that has happened in the last few years. He can make me laugh no matter what kind of day I am having. I didn't know I wanted a third child, but I am so glad he came along. Sometimes the biggest blessings in life are things we never even knew we wanted.

Congrats!

Thanks for the well wishes!

I broke down and told my best friend this afternoon. She was quite excited - probably more-so than I am. My family can be overwhelming (to say the least), so I'm still waiting to tell them. SO isn't very close to his family, so I'll leave the decision to tell them up to him.

If I'm calculating right, I think I'm about 5 weeks along right now. I didn't realize symptoms came on quite this quickly. I had to force myself to eat today. The thoughts of food had my stomach doing flip flops.

Dark Inertia, I'll have my fingers crossed for you!

Pass some of that baby dust my way! Congratulations! Pregnancy lasts a long time so you have time to get over the shock & get excited!
