Feeling a lot of useless anger this morning so I wanted to focus on the fact that the weekend is almost here. Do people have plans? What are you up to? Who can give me a moscow mule and a back rub while we're at it?

I have to finish an essay about baby farming. Fascinating stuff.

That starts tomorrow. Today is my "lazy" day off. Going to have a long hot soak with some nice tunes, tidy up a bit, then meeting one BFF for drinks and another for Chinese food just down the road from here.

Will get out for daily walks the next couple of days.

It's damp and rainy here, so it's cozy inside watching the trees coming into bud and warm enough outside to enjoy walking in the rain.

Tonight, I'm going to the gym and then take it easy.

Tomorrow is 9AM yoga and 6PM supper with my girlfriends.

Sunday is a "lazy day". At some point this weekend, I need to do some laundry and get some groceries. There is nothing to eat in my house, which is normally fine. However, we are almost out of dog food, which would be a catastrophe.

I'm going for some "girl time" tonight with one BFF. Martinis in the hot tub is always very therapeutic.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to visit with my daughter and 2 yr old grandson. I haven't seen him in 2 weeks and I'm sure he is doing or saying something new and fabulous that I've missed out on.

Tomorrow evening is the annual auction at my church, the theme is "Flower Power". There will be a silent as well as live auction, music, dancing, food and I'm pretty sure wine as well. I contributed to the auction this year and I'm told there will be a bidding war over one item. That should be fun.

Sunday morning is church (if I get out of bed) and Sunday evening is my meditation group.

Just like FF I will also be getting out for daily walks, long walks...my dogs require it, rain or shine.

Tonight is walking at the mall with friends (it's too cold and rainy to walk outside) and then to Book Club to discuss Nineteen Minutes. That includes pizza and beer (neither of which is on my diet).

Tomorrow I get to watch 3 games of soccer that my three grandchildren are playing, then home to do some chores - maybe tackle the garage as it is supposed to warm up in the 60s tomorrow afternoon.

Sunday we are going for a nice long motorcycle ride as the temp is supposed to be mid 70s! That will be the best part of the weekend for me.

Had a crazy long week at work (state testing is next week and my students are squirrelly!) I have a bunch of laundry to,catch up on, papers to grade, and floors to vacuum.

Tomorrow I am taking the kids to a concert. Super excited! Tonight I have a date with a guy I recently started seeing. We met a few months ago and really clicked. :)

Happy Friday!

Tomorrow-- pedicures and coffee with my sister! Can't wait! We never see each other these days, so I'm super excited. After that, craft show with my mom and then spending the evening with my parents.

Sunday-- Groceries... paper grading (BLEAH)... but then the kiddos come home.

Happy weekend!

Been a long, long week.... so I am skipping salsa tonight and staying home with my critters. Maybe a fire in the fireplace!

Tomorrow, Zumba in the morning followed by lunch with a friend, then laundry. Blech. Dancing plans both Saturday and Sunday night.

I need to do yard work but the weather here is for crap right now. Rain, rain, rain.

I'm so ready for summer.

Wow, what a crazy week. Work is killing me. I still have one more week until spring break. My students and I both need spring break...now.

Just finished up and submitted a three page paper.

Going to relax with SI before bed tonight. Tomorrow is do whatever Teslet wants day. Poor kid, he's hurting bad from ex-shat not picking him up. So tomorrow is going to be plenty of snuggles, sillies, and he has a date to watch his uncle Teslen play x-box. I don't get it but it seems to be a bonding thing for them.

I think while they are having their guy time, I'm going to sneak out for some me time. I have a feeling it will involve running several miles. I have not gotten out to run all winter long. I need a run. Bad.

Sunday I need to prep for one more week of hell at school.

Friday night I worked my 2nd job waiting tables at the restaurant after working my full time job all day.

Saturday morning DD has gymnastics, and then I'm having a psychic reading party at my house in the afternoon, and women from work are coming over for readings, snacks, drinks, etc.

After that I need to go shopping for a new washer and dryer.

Sunday DD goes with XWH so I will have the day to myself to do whatever I want!

FaithFool what exactly is "baby farming", do I want to know????

This is an unusual weekend for me: I gots things to look forward to :)

My college favorites lost in the NCAA battle last night. Watched the game with my parents, had dinner of pizza and salad with them and that was a good bonding time.

Today I'm going to the "big city" ha! (I'm from Iowa) with some gfs. We're planning on doing some "foodie things" and watching my friend's nephew's band at a club tonight. Got a hotel room for the night so we can "whoop" it up and hail a taxi.

Sunday, I have plans to meet up and do something with a new "friend" . Dinner on Sunday with my niece (she's the daughter of my former sil-so that is really special, so happy that she and her mom are still in my life and love me).

Next weekend I may be posting the "laundry, gym, grocery store doing other household chores" post here!

Baby farming was what people did in the UK (and probably elsewhere, but my area is British history) before adoption agencies, in the 1800's.

In the 1830s the Poor Law was changed to say that pregnant women couldn't go after the father for support, and as lots of poor women were going to work at that time, getting pregnant was a massive problem for them

People (usually desperate widows) would take out ads under false names in the newspaper saying they were looking to adopt children to good homes.

They would meet the mothers (or sometimes parents who were wanting find a home for an illegitimate grandchild) at railway stations, get the babies and get paid a fee from whoever was giving it away.

Then they'd take it home or farm it out to a wet nurse for a much smaller fee, and it would usually get sick and die before too long. There were often drugs involved to keep them quiet.

They'd go back, buy another ad, rinse and repeat. Often they would have many infants going at once, and the conditions were appallingly bad.

When lots of bodies started turning up in the city streets, people finally started getting caught and some women were hanged for it.

The laws were finally changed in the 1920s. Amazing it took that long, but there was lots of arguing to do about who was responsible...of course it was always the woman's fault...

The human condition never ceases to fascinate me.
