Would you apply to this company?

I need some opinions. I'm unemployed, so I know to apply to everything and everywhere. However, here is my dilemma.

I applied for job an HR at this company. I didn't hear back so I contacted them on a Friday and never heard back. I followed up on a Monday, still no answer. Ok, fine. I chalked it up to not enough experience etc... This was about a month ago. Another position because available last week...payroll. I have most of the qualifications, but not 100%. I applied. Still haven't heard anything. I've been debating with myself if I should call them because of what happened the first time. Now, another position is available in their billing dept. I'm not sure if I should bother applying for it. They just don't seem very responsive. I'd be happy with a simple return call "we've identified a stronger candidate" but I get nothing.

So, if you were in my shoes, would you apply? It's literally two minutes down the street from me.

When I was unemployed, I applied for anything and everything I thought I might have a shot at landing.
Most of the time I never heard back, but at least I tried!

If you're a fit, they'll call you. I say go for it.

ETA: My BIL owns his own store and he was absolutely overwhelmed with the number of applications for various job positions. There was no way he could call/email 500 people per position (which is the number of apps he sometimes got for a position).

I would apply with the expectation that I likely wouldn't hear from them.

I hear this from the HR people at my company as well. They contact only those applicants that they plan to screen and then interview. They do, however, follow up with 100% of the applicants that they screen and interview.

I understand that. I just meant that they couldn't return my messages?

I've been working on cover letters and resumes all day today. I hope something comes soon. I'm going to send them another one now.

I completely understand your frustration, but it is likely that you weren't the only person calling. To use my BIL as an example, he just focuses on the applications in which he has interest and the rest (unfortunately) go by the wayside.

Ok, I just finished applying to that company as well as countless others. After today, I really don't want to look at my resume or cover letter again

Gaby, if your BIL is that swamped I'd be more than happy to help. I have a home office and can totally telecommute.

If only!

You said to apply for anything and everywhere. So I gave it a shot

To be honest, I reached a point where I stopped applying with certain companies. I had applied for multiple positions that (I felt) I was eminently qualified for only to never hear from them. After a while, I figured my time was more valuable to me than it was to them.

I understand this.

I pretty much gave up applying at one health insurance company because I never heard back from them. I apply to positions where I meet about 90% of the qualifications thinking I can learn the rest (internal processes, systems etc...) It gets frustrating.
