First off I'd like to thank my fellow staff for covering for my absence over the last 4 weeks I traveled for Spring Break and then work. A big thanks to Jrazz for covering post parties and Stupid Picture Fridays.
I also want to thank my SI friends from the Northern California area that met up with me and my kids on our spring break, and all who came out to watch U of Kentucky beat Michigan in the Final Four.
When my friends here heard I was taking the kids to N. Cali they were like "you have to visit Chnatown" so we did.
We also saw Coit Tower
and made the trip over to Alcatraz

We got to spend a day in Sonoma
and see the vineyards nearby
and then a drive towards the mountains

For the mountains are beautiful
but it was a miracle, someone ordered snow which arrived the day before we did.
but I think it just added to the experience

I find it refreshing to gain a new perspective and it is hard to not think of the world differently when you are amongst these giant Sequoias
or these mountians
We did see the effect of the drought on this reservoir
which made me sad. I hope that they get some rain this year.

Then I had to send my kids home and I had to depart the country for work. But this is how I pack for 4 weeks on the road.
One carry on and one personal item. No lost luggage.
And also a reason that Chinatown wasn't exciting for me is because I had 3 weeks in China ahead of me.

They still do a lot of things manually. Here is a street cleaner
but then they're as modern as everyone else

I got to spend a day in Hong Kong before flying home and it was beautiful.
Here is a little market we shopped at.
Although it was misting we did find a beach to enjoy next trip
the sights of a bustling city (along with double decker buses)

A little Bruce Lee
And a laser light show
I am disappointed that no one wanted to go with me to Disneyland Hong Kong. Maybe next time. But after 27 days and 20,000+ miles of travel it is good to be back home.

Thanks for sharing photos, Moo!
Interesting that you went from the serenity of the snowdusted big trees to the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong in such a short time span (and with so little luggage!)
I'm glad we got to spend a little time together. It's always great to see you!
And I totally would've gone to Hong Kong Disney with you! Next time you need to ask. TIKY and I are game.

Beautiful pictures! So glad you had a good time but I know you're super excited to finally be home.
Um, I TOTALLY would've done Hong Kong Disney!!! The pic on the tower angled downward in which your shoes can be seen seemingly miles from the ground below? Yeah. Made me queasy.
