It was a washout
It started out nice. The parade started at 1. All the kids were crowded together so I couldn't see DS10. When everyone got to the field the teams lined up along a baseball field. They made all the announcements and DS10's coach sang the National Anthem. He was really good.
Then it started to sprinkle...
DD7 saw a good friend of hers and they were hanging out and having fun. When the announcements were finished I collected DS10. It started to rain more so we had to leave. DD7 was disappointed and started crying which set off my husband and made DD7 cry more. On the walk back I tried to explain that we were leaving because of the rain and she kept saying "I didn't do anything wrong." I told her I know she didn't and again told her we were leaving because of the rain.
This was my son's first time on little league and his first opening day and he couldn't stay to enjoy it. We weren't the only people leaving, but it was still disappointing.

After all the crap they go through, especially DS10, I just wanted him to have "his" special day. He's busted his ass practicing and he was even recognized by his coach and given a little baseball pin for efforts. The team screamed and clapped for him (I almost cried out of pride and happiness for him) when he received the pin.
One day. Can't he have one day?

He deserves oodles of days. That must have been an awesome moment when everyone cheered and he received his pin.
I bet he will remember that moment for a long time.

It was an awesome moment. Sometimes in new situations he withdraws and doesn't show emotions, but a few minutes after he was beaming. He was so excited when we were putting the pin in his hat. He calls that hat his lucky hat
