It's campaign season. Signs are going up everywhere. Here's the one for one of our local candidates for Coroner. I don't think he understands what the job is.

When I saw meta had replied to my thread I thought I was gonna get beaned for breaking the "no politics" rule.
That's hilarious, though, meta.

t/j: A couple of years ago a local private investigator retired FBI agent, US Navy Vietnam veteran ran for the Georgia state house. His name was the same as mine.
So there are election signs everywhere with my name on them. Vote Gahurts. It was the next county over so I didn't look into it too much but he sounded like a nice guy from what I read.
Sadly he lost the election and then had a sudden heart attack. I found out about it when I pulled up my church's website and saw the memorial service for gahurts scheduled for the following Thursday. Talk about getting spooked. When your church announces that they are having memorial service for you in a couple of days gets you thinking. Sorta like tempting fate. Then they announced it at mass and that really gave me chills.
I called a friend of mine who works in the church office to find out the details. When I saw her later in the week she gave me a big hug and said "I'm so glad you are not dead."
Yeah, me too!
